Day 38: Delaware State House and Historic Area
We headed to the Delaware State and historic complex today. Delaware is VERY proud of being the first state. We were repeatedly told the story of Ceasar Rodney and the role he played in securing the vote for the Declaration of Independence.
The current state house was built during the depression. In order to keep finances in Delaware, all the materials (except for the floor marble) came from Delaware. It is not as ornate, but they used their features well, and the continental blue color looked beautiful throughout the building. We had a personal tour, and the guide was great and didn't mind all the questions. There was another storm while we were inside, but it broke again long enough for us to get to the Old State House.
The Old State House.
The John Bell House.
I wonder what we would see if you gave one of the kids the camera for the day?
